Young Jaxom Lord Holder of Ruatha on the planet of Pern, and Rider of Ruth, out exploring the Southern Continent. He stands on the edge of Ship Meadow, dressed in somewhat worn riding leathers which are open at the neck to show cross-stitch embroidery in the colors of Benden Weyr. In his hand, he holds a precious far viewer. Behind him, the Mountain rises out of mist and clouds. In the middle ground is the flower covered mound that hides the secrets of the Ancients.
This is one of the portraits from the book People of Pern that I did with Anne McCaffrey in 1988. It was painted in oil on masonite. You really can't tell, but Jaxom is based loosely on a "Pernized" image of Anne's son, Todd, as he was then. Since then, of course, Todd has become an author in his own right. He's written more about Pern, both with his mother and on his own, as well as several books written in other settings. (Before 1998, he wrote as Todd Johnson. Since then, he's been using Todd McCaffrey.)
This print is only available from my Zazzle Store. Prints from Zazzle aren't signed, but you can choose any size you want, printed on any of the various Zazzle papers (from cardstock to canvas.) The default size is 17x22 inches, the same size as the original painting.
Prints from Zazzle come without a frame or mat, but you can have them framed if you want to.
This image is also available on cards, postcards, iPhone and iPad cases, and more. (If you would like it on something else Zazzle offers, let me know.)
Besides all of that, you have more payment choices at Zazzle, and they ship more quickly. So moving things there seemed like a win-win to me.
If you would like to see what is available, check out Jaxom at my Zazzle store. If you would like this image on something it's not currently on, let me know!
